How to Add a Product

Create products in Kaname's CRM to track deals, associate threads, and manage your sales pipeline.

In Kaname's CRM, a product represents something you are actively selling — a subscription plan, a service package, a consulting engagement, or a software license. Products are the organizational unit that deals and leads are grouped under.

Once you create a product, you can associate inbox threads with it, track which leads are interested, and measure pipeline performance per product.

Step 1: Navigate to CRM → Products

From the left sidebar, click CRM, then select Products from the submenu.

You will see a list of all existing products. If you are setting up Kaname for the first time, this list will be empty.

Step 2: Click "Add product"

Click the Add product button in the top-right corner of the Products page.

Step 3: Fill in product details

The product creation form asks for the following fields:

Product name (required) Give the product a clear, recognizable name. This is what you will see when associating threads to a product. Examples: "Starter Plan", "Agency Retainer", "Enterprise License".

Description (optional) A short description of what the product is. Useful if you have multiple similar products and need to distinguish them.

Price (optional) The price or pricing range for the product. Kaname uses this for pipeline value calculations in the CRM revenue view.

Currency (optional) The currency the price is denominated in.

Step 4: Save the product

Click Save or Create product. The product now appears in your Products list and is available for associating with leads and threads.

Associating threads with a product

Once a product exists, you can link inbox threads to it:

  1. Open any thread in the Inbox
  2. In the thread detail panel, find the Product field
  3. Click the field and select the relevant product from the dropdown
  4. The thread is now associated with that product and will appear in the product's pipeline view

This association is how Kaname builds your sales pipeline — each thread linked to a product represents an active sales conversation for that product.

Viewing your product pipeline

Go to CRM → Products and click any product to see its pipeline view. This shows:

  • All threads associated with this product, grouped by stage
  • Total pipeline value based on the price field
  • Recent activity across all associated threads

Editing a product

Click on any product in the Products list to open its detail view. From there you can edit the name, description, and price. Changes take effect immediately across all threads associated with that product.

Archiving a product

If you stop selling a product, you can archive it rather than delete it. Archived products no longer appear in the active product dropdown when associating threads, but their historical data remains intact.

To archive a product, open the product detail view and click Archive product in the settings or options menu.

Tips for setting up products

Keep product names specific. "Consulting" is harder to work with than "Strategy Consulting - Monthly Retainer". Specific names make it faster to associate threads correctly.

Create one product per distinct offering. If you sell three different subscription tiers, create three separate products. This gives you accurate per-product pipeline data.

Set a price even if it is an estimate. Approximate pricing in the product record lets Kaname calculate rough pipeline value, which is useful for quick revenue forecasting.
